I’m Bryan Flores, and I serve on the leadership team and the board as CFO, which mostly means I’m the guy who says “we don’t have the money for that.” My wife Amanda and I landed in Ventura in 2009, when she was pregnant with our twins, Isabella and Ezra. Two weeks after we arrived, someone introduced us to the Ventura Vineyard, and it became one of the main reasons we stayed put instead of fleeing back to New York.
Amanda jumped into the Children’s Ministry once the twins were born and ended up running it as Director for the next decade. I started a small men’s group that slowly outgrew our backyard, got asked to join the leadership team, and somehow ended up helping shape the vision to transform the Ventura Vineyard into the communally-led Liminal Church it is today. These days I mostly work behind the scenes — though I’m on the Tech Team, so if the slides freeze mid-service, there’s a non-zero chance it’s my fault.
I’ve spent 25 years in corporate America as a strategist and executive, but the work that’s mattered most to me has always been alongside people in local and marginalized communities. Our twins are teenagers at Ventura High now, and our mini-husky Freya reigns as undisputed queen of the castle. When I’m not moonlighting as an unpaid high-school Uber driver, you’ll find me hiking, cooking, or traveling. What I love most about Liminal is that it’s a safe space for anyone to explore their inner life and spiritual journey — wherever they happen to be on the road.
