Welcome, and thanks for checking out our community!
We gather for teaching and worship on Sunday afternoon at 4:00pm both in person and live online via our Facebook Page.
LOCATION & PARKING
We are located at 5654 Ralston Street in Ventura in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ventura building!
We have ample parking, and the building is wheelchair accessible. Upon entering, you’ll find a small foyer and the sanctuary will be to your right. On the other side of the sanctuary lies the Fellowship Hall, known as Berg Hall, a spacious area equipped with tables for socializing, playing games, or solving puzzles. This is the perfect spot for gathering after the service to enjoy refreshments and engage in conversation. Additionally, Berg Hall provides access to the kitchen, our office, the Liminal Kids room, and The Blend Youth room.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We are casual but sincere so don’t feel the need to dress up. We want you to be comfortable.
Our Ushers will greet you as you enter and are available to answer any questions you may have, or point you in the right direction!
After our service, join us in Berg Hall for snacks and beverages and a time to socialize. Check out our Connection Counter to find out more about who we are and what we are up to. And if you are new to our community we would love to meet you, answer any questions you might have, and give you a small welcome gift.
We are a collaborative church (check out our full Leadership Team here) with not just one Worship Leader, Service Host, or Pastor/Teacher, but a rotating team of each! So each Sunday will look a little bit different and will be led by people with different personalities and perspectives. During the service you can expect a time of worship through music led by one of our Worship Leaders, updates and announcements about the goings-on of our community from one of our Service Hosts, then a message taught by one of our Teachers, followed by more worship. Our Sunday Service typically ends around 5:15pm.
A couple things to be aware of:
- Food and drinks (other than water) are not allowed in the sanctuary.
- No pets are allowed — service animals only please.
CONTEMPLATIVE SUNDAYS
The last Sunday of each month, we have our Contemplative Sunday. These services will have a little more space built in for things like reflection, silence, and contemplation. Doesn’t a chance to sit together, breathe, and simply be present sound restorative amid our busy everyday lives? We hope these Contemplative Sundays will provide that rest while also helping us stretch and grow in new and creative ways.
A message for the introverted among us: rest assured that these Sundays will not require you to do things like break out into smaller groups for discussion, stand up in front of everyone to speak, or things of that nature. This may be a different kind of service, but it remains introvert-friendly.
LIMINAL KIDS + YOUTH GROUP
We invite all kids and youth to join us in the Sanctuary for our first worship song, after which they are excused to their classrooms for the remainder of the service. Our Kid’s Ministry (Liminal Kids) is for two-year-olds through 5th graders. In addition, a nursery is available for 0-2 year olds, as needed. Check out the Liminal Kids page for more information.
Middle School & Youth programs are also available (please visit the Youth pages for days and times).
Of course, children and youth are welcome in the main service throughout the entire service, and are not required to participate in the kid’s/youth programs.
