As with everything this year we are celebrating the Easter season a bit differently. Besides our regular Easter Sunday service, we will only have one additional event during holy week.
On April 1st at 7pm, join us for a Zoom service to commemorate Maundy Thursday.
At the time of the service, simply go to www.liminalventura.org/maundythursday to be taken to the Zoom call. If you’re more comfortable joining without your camera on, you are more than welcome to do that.
Maundy is derived from the Latin word for “command” because it was on this day that Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”
On this evening, we will be following along with Jesus as he washes his disciple’s feet, shares the last supper and prays in the garden. Similar to Catherine Anderson’s visio divina offerings on Sunday mornings we will be using artwork and guided reflections along with liturgy and scripture to contemplate the love and sacrifice that Jesus demonstrated and that we are called to emulate.
We’ll be sharing communion together, so gather some bread and wine or juice, maybe set up some candles, light some incense, carve out a space and time to slow down and linger in the beauty and ache of Jesus’ last hours before his betrayal.
