This study is designed for challenging yet rewarding mutual discovery – perhaps re-discovery – of the Bible in a setting where we take a “beginner’s mind” approach to the continuing relevance of its words, stories, and themes. This is an excellent place to dabble or go as deep as you wish in a group committed to openness and curiosity. We’ll discuss its history, teachings, and meaning from cover to cover. At the center and throughout is an ongoing look at the way of Jesus and what it means today to follow after Him. Varying study styles will be explored, from the more traditional to “inductive,” as well as ancient, contemplative styles, such as “Lectio Divina.” Key ingredients to it all, though, are our own lives, learning, and experience.
Winter/Spring ‘23 Series: Exploring Biblical Narrative with BibleProject.com
Join us as we tackle the essential nuts and bolts features of reading and understanding the Bible in all its mystery. This series is a great way to investigate the elements of narrative & storytelling, a major literary style of Scripture, and, in particular, the way God’s gritty, unfailing love weaves through its pages, into & through the life of Jesus. Weekly, informative content provided by BibleProject.com will get us into its pages and what promises to be some engaging, insightful conversations and deepen understanding. This is intended for those totally new to the Bible, those returning after a time – perhaps years – away, or those who actively read, but want to understand it even more.
Study will take place beginning January 11 through March 29 on Wednesdays from 7-8:15 pm.
In-person and Zoom options are available.
